Working my busy way up the coast.
After Muine I jumped on an early bus to go to Nha Trang, a bit like Muine except more of city, many times bigger & busier, and not really as nice and peaceful. The weather was not really too great, gloomy and with reasonable strength winds, so most of the activities in Nha Trang were a bit of a no go. The upside was that there was a small respite from the incessant heat for a day! The visibility in the water was very bad due to the sea being quite rough so I unfortunately could not go snorkelling or diving. Instead I spent some well earned rest time catching up on some sleep and lazing about on the beach for a few days. I even managed to join in a game of volleyball with some locals on the beach and then spent half an hour teaching a motorbike taxi driver to say 'Kia Ora Bro', in the hope he spreads the knowledge around. You see most motorbike drivers, street salesmen etc (and there are ALOT in South East Asia) all make an effort to learn a few small things about as many countries as they can in order to hook-line-and sinker a customer, just by saying the facts they know about the potential customer's home country. Unfortunately the only thing anyone knows is that New Zealander=Kiwi. Although in saying that I did have a discussion with a roving book salesman about the capital city of NZ, which he swore black and blue is Auckland, because he used to work in a library and taught geography, despite the fact that I actually live in the capital city and probably have a better idea than him! We agreed to disagree and needless to say I didn't buy any history books from that guy. I had some great traditional Vietnamese food in Nha Trang, so all in all I'm glad I stopped by. Now I'm in Hoi An, just a small town, but there are a few things I want to see here like the old town and the historic japanese covered bridge constructed in 1593 so I will hang around here for one or two nights. Also I'm am meeting up with Mathieu who I met and stayed with in Ho Chi Minh city.
