I thought Saigon was crazy
I flew from Danang airport yesterday to Hanoi, the capital city of Vietnam. And its is even more mental than Saigon! Just a quick post today as soon I am leaving for a a 3 day trip aboard a boat in halong bay, one of the wonders of the world, and understandably no internet on a junk. The old town and Japanese bridge in Hoi An were awesome, it was like going back two hundred years while walking down the narrow streets. Yesterday morning we hired some motorbikes and went and checked out another historic place, China Beach. On the way we stopped at marble mountain. China Beach was awesome, beautiful beach, hard to stand on and imagine what is was like 30 or so years ago when thousands of American soldiers were landing. Riding a motorbike in Vietnam is very fun, that being the second time I had done it. I arrived in central Hanoi about 8pm or so, dropped my bags at a hostel and quickly went out to buy some jandals before shops started closing up. After about 10 minutes of funny banter with the two shop assistants we settled on a price of approx 7 dollars for a pair of nike flip flops (as everyone bar NZ and Aus call them). I had some Pho Bo and then headed back to my hostel, the Hanoi Backpackers Hostel, to grab a nights sleep. All for now, photos to come when I can get half an hour to resize and attach them to the blog.
