Still hot and sticky

After a mammoth 12 hour sleep, I leapt (or rolled onto the floor with a yelp) out of bed and made my way downstairs to try out my hotel breakfast buffet, baked beans on toast, and steamed shrimp cakes with runny fried eggs, top stuff!
Last night after checking out the pool on the roof (which was awesome - nice to be outside but not roasting in the heat.)

I headed to the Singapore National Museum, which was good for learning about the culture, albeit not in huge detail and very spread out, but thankfully air conditioned. I think the highlight was actually the building itself, plus all the gifts to state that were on display.

I got to the mrt station and trained/bussed halfway across the country (literally haha) to the Jurong bird park, a big zoo like place but filled only with birds, and enormous catfish in ponds. I arrived just in time for a great show where different birds flew over the audience, landed on volunteers arms etc and did all sorts of stuff, its different watching a show where everything is first said in english, and then repeated in malay, or maybe chinese? I definately can't tell the difference

After lunch and cold tiger I got back on the public transport system and made my way to the Singapore Zoo, which to my great excitement had just experienced a large downpour and was consequently very very muggy. The zoo was great as all the animals were so close, some even within touching distance

Singapore is a very modern city, with all the inhabitants seemingly always busy, encouraged by advertising and the government to upgrade and increase their quality of life. It's good having internet available so easy, which is why I am posting as much as I can while I can.

  1. Way cool! We're very happy that you're enjoying your country of birth so much. We've got a photo somewhere of Stacey standing in front of that Bird park waterfall, it doesn't look to have changed much over the years, except maybe the trees have grown! Beware the cold tigers, and the Anchors too, they have a bad headache attached to them. Obviously they've figured out the beer is better kept in a fridge rather than served with ice in it. Fantastic progress for them.
Keep it up, Mum pretty much hangs out to hear from you. How much are those texts going to cost though??? Take care, Dad
