Singapore!

I made it; alive, not in prison, and not doing compulsary military service lol.

I'm sitting here in an internet cafe somewhere in singapore central, its 29 degrees celsius and 94.2% humidity outside, so as you can imagine its very hot and sticky. It's only just stopped raining, about 5 minutes after I got off the plane it started pouring down, with thunder and lightening and the whole works. But luckily anywhere you go inside you are sent to the opposite extreme, its not raining, but its about minus 400 degrees, I don't think that anybody knows how to work the thermostats on their air conditioners.

Turns out the mass rail transit system (SMRT) is real easy and cheap to use, it cost me S$2.40 from the airport to central singapore, only thing is that its mostly standing room, so you need to be faster than a lizard on Ritalin to get a seat, old chinese ladies have no issues shoving you out of the way!!  Lunch was cheap to, I had a mountain of fried rice for lunch for $4 at an underground mall in the middle of the city. And I just spotted a very busy street food court that looks full of asians about 5 mins walk from my accommodation for dinner tonight..

Its only 3pm local time but I feel like I have been up for 2 days straight, i was only able to catch about 3 hours of sleep on the plane, plus the 20 minutes at auckland airport which almost caused me to miss my flight haha! good thing airport staff are onto it and I still managed to not be last onto the plane.

I plan on taking it easy for the rest of today/tonight, my accomodation has a pool on the roof so I might check that out, and then plan my next few days and hopefully get a good sleep!

  2. Good to see that you've made it ok, been wondering. Mum's happy now that she's heard from you, and Lucy woke up happy, must be a case of out of sight, out of mind. Terry was asking if we "managed to export" you ok. I told him to write to you care of the Singapore Defence Force, Bugger! Enjoy yourself. Dad.
